What is News?

Info Oct 3, 2021

News is technically information about recent happenings. This can be given through a variety of mediums: publishing, television, radio, postal services, print, newswires, or by the oral testimony of witnesses and observers to recent events. In technical terms, news can be said to be a summary or an expression of what has taken place. It does not usually refer to a person or a thing but to something which has taken place or should have taken place.

The purpose of any news report is to inform the public about what has taken place. It is usually presented in a manner which is clear, concise, up to date, and comprehensible. The news is distributed by various news channels, some of which are totally state-funded and some of which receive funds from commercial advertisers and others who benefit from the news. Most news channels are run by major newspapers and publishers.

The most popular news channels are CNN, C-SPAN, AP, Fox News, and AP Wire. These channels provide timely and comprehensive reports. They are primarily oriented towards international news and entertainment but they cover other aspects of the news as well. They cover natural disasters, sports events, political drama, local news, and even celebrity news. News channels also offer a number of special features like breaking news, weather forecast, segmentation, in depth stories, and up-to-date information.
