Protein Sources
Food is any material ingested to give nutrition to an individual. The food we eat is usually of animal, plant or fungi origin, and has necessary nutrients, including proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, or even minerals. A wide range of scientific tests have established that the human body can absorb nutrients from food. It also contains enzymes that help in digestion of food.
The types of food are categorized into three main groups: proteins, carbohydrates and fats. The first two are the basic ingredients of food, while the last one contains minor amounts of nutrients. All the food substances that constitute the human body are made up of molecules and each of these molecules has a particular number of electrons attached to it. When a nutrient molecule receives an electron from another, it becomes an agent for absorption of the nutrient, known as a vite. The major food substances that are considered to be nutrients include water, starches, sugars, proteins, fat, and carbohydrates.
All animal sources contain vitamins and minerals, but plant sources contain more vitamins and less minerals than animal sources. It is recommended to consume a varied amount of animal sources along with a balanced diet of plant foods, in order to obtain a healthy and balanced diet. Animal source food consists of all parts of animals other than the bone, including brains, hooves, organs, blood, bones and fur. Plants, on the other hand, contain only the skin, organs, blood, bones and flesh. Meat should be eaten in small quantities, while dairy and milk products need to be consumed in large quantities.
