Fake News in the Media
News can be defined as the regular reports made to the public about recent activities by human beings. Examples of news are daily events such as the breaking news about a new earthquake that occurred in Los Angeles, California, the first snow of the season in New York City, terrorist acts, crimes occurring in your town, and so many more. Examples of real-time news include streaming news about the latest events happening right now on the Internet, TV, and radio. The other type of news is non-real-time news such news which is produced by commercial media for the sole purpose of marketing. Examples of this type of news are the product reviews you see on TV, in magazines, in books, and in newspapers. News can also be made up of general reports about something that has happened in the world, or it can be just about anything happening around the world.
While all news is created with a goal of informing people about current affairs, some news stories are designed to entertain. Examples of this would be news about unusual animal behavior, wild animals showing up in strange areas, strange diseases in animals, strange music or songs, or any other unusual event that may have taken place in the world. Even though most journalists get their news from many different sources, the focus of their work is usually to inform readers.
The truth about many journalists today is that many journalists are too focused on the entertainment aspect of their work and they fail to be as objective as possible. They often make things up to make a story, or use their personal opinions to try and make a story about a controversial topic seem fair. Many journalists are using social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter to get information out to their millions of followers. This allows them to connect with old friends and create new friendships with people across the globe. However, too much social media use by some newsrooms can make it look as if they are trying to endorse a particular cause and in turn, create false information for the public to believe.
